Mixing Studio Q&A

What do you need from me to start a mix?

Consolidated WAVs or a DAW session with clearly named tracks, a rough mix, reference tracks, and notes on priorities. Print creative effects you consider part of the sound, and leave mix-bus processing off.

How should I export my tracks?

High-resolution WAV at the session sample rate, 24-bit or higher. One file per track from the same start point, no limiter or clipper on the master. Aim for peaks below −6 dBFS and an average level around −14. Include raw and processed versions where useful, and name files clearly.

Do I need to attend the mixing session?

Attendance is optional. You can sit in at the studio or review remotely in real time via Source-Connect for zero-latency monitoring, with scheduled listen-throughs and notes.

How long does it take to mix a song?

For a single, the first version is usually ready within one to two working days once files are approved. Larger or more complex sessions take longer. We confirm the schedule before we start.

What will I receive at the end?

A final stereo mix as a high-resolution WAV with proper headroom and clear file naming. Alternate versions such as instrumental, a cappella and TV can be supplied, with stems available on request.

How do revisions work?

Unlimited revisions are included within the agreed scope. We provide versioned mixes, apply notes methodically, and sign off the mix when you are fully happy.

Can I send my DAW project instead of stems?

Yes. Pro Tools is the primary environment, and other major DAWs are supported. Consolidated audio is preferred for reliability. If you send a project, we will guide you through preparing it and provide a secure upload link.

Is mastering included?

Mixing and mastering are separate. Mixes are delivered with headroom and documentation so they can move straight into mastering. Mastering is available as an additional service.
